Oka stretches along the north shore of the Lac des Deux Montagnes, in the west of the MRC, at the foot of the hills of Oka. Its history is marked by the Calvaire d'Oka, a Way of the Cross built between 1740 and 1742, and by the Cistercian abbey founded in 1881, birthplace of the famous Oka cheese. The municipal territory partly surrounds the Mohawk community of Kanesatake. Here you'll find a waterfront town, orchards along the country roads, and a clientele of retirees, families and outdoor enthusiasts.
