Living in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac
Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac runs along the north shore of the Lac des Deux Montagnes, between Deux-Montagnes and Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, along chemin d'Oka. Originally a summer getaway with its summer cottages, it became a year-round residential suburb whose population has grown considerably since the 2000s. In April 2019, the breach of its dike forced the evacuation of more than 6,000 people; a new dike, about 5 km long and higher, has since been built. The city appeals mainly to young families and commuters looking for recent construction close to the REM.
