Deux-Montagnes is a small, compact town on the north shore of the Rivière des Mille Îles, at the point where it flows out of the Lac des Deux Montagnes. Founded in 1921 as Saint-Eustache-sur-le-Lac, it took its current name in 1963; the name comes from the lake and the seigneury named as far back as 1674. Its history is tied to its old water mills, whose memory lives on in the name Grand-Moulin. Families and daily commuters mostly live here, drawn by its riverside parks and its two REM stations.
