Saint-Eustache, the main city of the MRC de Deux-Montagnes, stretches along the north shore of the Rivière des Mille Îles and is crossed by the Rivière du Chêne. Founded in 1770, it was the site of the Battle of Saint-Eustache on December 14, 1837, during the Patriots’ Rebellion; the church, burned and later rebuilt, still bears its marks. Vieux-Saint-Eustache, with its mill, its manor house and its summer markets, sits alongside residential neighbourhoods and a major commercial and industrial hub along Highway 640. The city appeals to families as well as retirees and North Shore workers.
