Saint-Zotique stretches 8.4 km along Lac Saint-François, about 8 km from Ontario. The territory was part of the seigneury of Nouvelle-Longueuil and went by the names Concession-du-Lac, Longueuil-sur-le-Lac and Moulin-Biron before honouring Saint Zotique, whose relic Mgr Ignace Bourget had brought back from Europe in 1849. The parish municipality dates from 1855, the village separated in 1913, and the two merged in 1967; Saint-Zotique became a city in 2023. Its beach, its 25 navigable canals and its rapid growth attract young families: the median age is below the Quebec average.
