East Angus developed at the confluence of the Saint-François and Eaton rivers, around the sawmill and paper mill that industrialist William Angus had built in 1881. The mill, acquired by Cascades in 1983, long set the rhythm of local life. The city has preserved several historic churches, including Christ Church (1886). Families, retirees and workers who want small-town living close to Sherbrooke make their home here.
