The name Côte-Saint-Luc has appeared on maps since New France, around 1660. Incorporated as a village in 1903 and becoming a “cité” in 1958, the city experienced strong growth after the Second World War. Merged with Montreal in 2002, it became independent again in 2006. About a third of its territory is occupied by the Canadian Pacific rail yard, which divides the city into very distinct areas.
