Sainte-Julienne is the seat of the MRC de Montcalm. The first settlers arrived there around 1840; the place was then known as Village Beaupré, and the parish, founded in 1848, bears the name of Saint Juliana Falconieri. The territory combines a village centre, rural farm roads and wooded areas dotted with lakes. There are both established families and people who came looking for a bigger lot an hour from Montreal.
