Saint-Lin–Laurentides was born in 2000 from the merger of the municipality of Saint-Lin and the Ville des Laurentides. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the first French-speaking Canadian to become prime minister, was born there, and the house associated with his family is now a national historic site. The Rivière de l'Achigan runs through the territory, about 70% of which is agricultural zone or natural environment. The city now has more than 25,000 residents after strong growth over the past decade.
