Saint-Isidore is named after Saint Isidore the Farmer, chosen for the fertility of its land, still among the most productive in Quebec. An elongated municipality in the MRC de Roussillon, it is crossed by the Rivière de l'Esturgeon and, to the north, by Highway 30. Settlement took place mostly from the end of the 18th century, with families arriving from Longueuil, Saint-Constant and La Prairie. People live in the village or along the rural roads, often as families, working in the Greater Montreal region.
