Living in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton

Saint-Denis-de-Brompton stretches across an almost entirely wooded territory dotted with lakes, near Sherbrooke. Its name recalls Abbé Joseph-Denis Bellemare, parish priest of Saint-François-Xavier-de-Brompton, as well as the Township of Brompton, proclaimed in 1801. The parish was founded in 1922, and the parish municipality was created in 1935 from territory of Brompton, Orford, Saint-François-Xavier-de-Brompton and Saint-Élie-d'Orford, before becoming a municipality on November 17, 2012. The Petit lac Brompton, Lac Brompton and Lac Montjoie shape its recreational and vacation-home character. The population is concentrated in the village, at the crossroads of Routes 222 and 249, and around the lakes.
