Living in Notre-Dame-des-Prairies

Notre-Dame-des-Prairies stretches along the east bank of the Rivière L'Assomption, directly across from Joliette, and the Rivière la Chaloupe marks its northern boundary. The parish was founded in 1950, the municipality was created in 1957 and it obtained city status in 2005. Its name evokes the meadows of the St. Lawrence Lowlands, and the rural roads of the Première and Deuxième Chaloupe recall its agricultural origins. It appeals mostly to families and retirees looking for residential neighbourhoods close to the services of Joliette.
