Living in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot

Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot occupies most of Île Perrot, granted in 1672 to François-Marie Perrot, then governor of Montreal, who gave the island his name. At Pointe-du-Moulin, a stone windmill built in the early 18th century and the miller's house form a National Historic Site of Canada, and the Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal church, completed in 1786, stands on the shore of the bay. The parish municipality, created in 1949, absorbed the former city of Pointe-du-Moulin in the 1980s and obtained city status in 2004. First rural and then a summer resort, it now combines residential neighbourhoods, orchards, farms and the shores of Lac Saint-Louis.
