Sainte-Thérèse takes its name from the seigneury developed under Marie-Thérèse Dugué de Boisbriand; incorporated as a town in 1849, it is the historic hub city of the MRC. Its former seminary, built starting in 1881 and classified as a heritage building, now houses the Collège Lionel-Groulx, known for its theatre and music programs. The city presents itself as a “city of arts and culture,” with a lively downtown around Blainville Ouest, Turgeon and Saint-Joseph streets. Students, young professionals, commuters and retirees all appreciate its compact neighbourhood living.
