The borough was created in 2006 through the merger of the former cities of Pierrefonds and Roxboro, in the northwest of the island, along the Rivière des Prairies. Roxboro developed more than a century ago around its train station, while Pierrefonds owes its name to a castle built in 1902 on the model of the Château de Pierrefonds in France. Here you'll find 1960s neighbourhoods with mature trees, more recent developments and three large nature parks. It is a bilingual borough, popular with families and outdoor enthusiasts.
