Living in Saint-Laurent

Founded in 1687, Saint-Laurent became an industrial centre after the arrival of the railway and grew strongly after the Second World War. Today, about 70% of its territory is devoted to industrial and commercial activities, including Technoparc Montréal, and the borough is the region's second-largest employment hub after downtown. Its residential neighbourhoods range from Vieux-Saint-Laurent, around avenue Sainte-Croix, to the more recent developments of Bois-Franc and Nouveau Saint-Laurent. A very diverse population lives here, including families and many students thanks to its two cégeps.
