Living in Sutton

Sutton was created in 2002 from the merger of the former city and the township of Sutton, making it a municipality with a vast territory. The village is located on Route 139, at the foot of the Sutton mountains, close to the Vermont border. The first Loyalists settled here around 1799, and the economy, originally agricultural, turned to tourism after the ski resort opened in 1960. Residents include year-round residents, retirees, artisans and second-home owners.
