Beaconsfield dates back to 1698, when the Sulpicians granted the first land at Pointe Beaurepaire. It takes its name from Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield, and was incorporated in 1910. For a long time a summer resort, it turned into a residential suburb starting in the late 1950s. Today its tree-lined streets and riverside parks attract mainly families.
