Delson owes its name to a contraction of Delaware & Hudson, the American railway company whose line shaped the town, founded in 1918. Small in area, the city is crossed from south to north by the Rivière de la Tortue, which then joins the St. Lawrence. It sits between the Pont Honoré-Mercier and the Pont Samuel-De Champlain, with a commuter train station and part of the Champlain industrial park. Residents are mostly families and workers who appreciate short distances.
